I can definitely say the 2009 holiday season held the record for gingerbread houses. Between my job and home I finished about 20-25 houses. Although the candy covered traditional houses seem to be the most popular, I prefer a house with little candy and more piping work. I think it looks more contemporary and also ornate. The piping was done with royal icing and the trees and snowmen were made out of fondant.
