It feels so rewarding when you are able to meet the expectations that a customers has. These cakes were obviously for three completely different people with diverse ideas. The floral cake was for a spring birthday. The Tiffany box cake was for a wedding shower and The jungle theme was for a sweet sixteen party. All the customers left satisfied and that is always my goal.

These are some samples of three dimensional and shaped cakes that I have created. The Transformers and the Salmon with asparagus cake both had some fondant work done on them. The Transformer cake was completely covered in rolled fondant. The Salmon cake was primarily made of butter cream except for the asparagus spears which were made a couple of days ahead of time and let sit out to dry before propping them up and sealing them together with royal icing. I try to make everything on my cakes edible. Except for the handle on the slot machine and the tail feathers on the rooster everything on these for cakes were edible and delicious!

These cakes are similar because they were both covered in ganache. Dark chocolate and white chocolate. Ganache gives a beautifully polished look to a cake and for chocolate lovers, I would always recommend its rich taste.

I can definitely say the 2009 holiday season held the record for gingerbread houses. Between my job and home I finished about 20-25 houses. Although the candy covered traditional houses seem to be the most popular, I prefer a house with little candy and more piping work. I think it looks more contemporary and also ornate. The piping was done with royal icing and the trees and snowmen were made out of fondant.

Being a mom of two young children I understand the frustration you can feel after you have spent the time and effort decorating your baby's room just to have the child rip off the boarder out of boredom. I replaced the boarder in my girls room a couple of times myself. So when a friend of mine asked if could paint on a boarder in her daughters room I was happy to help and thought it was an excellent idea. She gave me a flowery crib sheet to get inspiration from and bought a rug and matching curtains to finish off the room just perfectly.
